Derby Dish...

Prince Fielder came up big (pun INTENDED) against Nelson Cruz in the finals of the Home Run Derby last night. Mr. Fielder was fun to watch, as he does NOT get cheated on any swing. I am sure headline writers across the country rejoiced when he won.

The National League will try to break through and actually win a game tonight.

Roy Halladay starts tonight for the AL all-star team, as questions continue to circulate on whether he will finish the season with the Blue Jays or not. MLB Trade Rumors, as always, has some great links about the topic. The NY Post has earth shattering news... Roy Halladay would help the Yankees win. They also have a good list of those relievers who could be on the move as the deadline approaches.

why do I no longer care about the HR berby?
1. I'm old
2. Without steroids its not as fun
3. The mets suck and I'm bitter towards baseball
4. It ruins swings so it doesn't include all of the top HR's hitters

side note:

how cool would a skills challenge be? fastest from home to third, fastest to get the ball from right field to third base....etc

I think that would get my interest back...maybe (stupid %$^$&'in Mets)

Michael,

I think baseball lived off the long ball for a while and will have to readjust their approach with theo me run derby.

I think the skills competition would be great, but I am sure some GM would complain that his player shouldn't be running at full speed from first to third for some show.
