Heck of a night in baseball

Interesting stories abound this morning...

Manny Ramirez comes off the bench to hit a grand slam that's the difference in a six to two Dodgers win.

Houston gets a walk-off single from Miguel Tejada, beating the Cards four to three, pulling them within one game of the National League Central leader (and also ruining a good start by Chris Carpenter that would have gotten me a few more points in my fantasy league) The Cards picked up shortstop Julio Lugo in exchange for outfielder Chris Duncan.

The A's put up a BIG crooked number against the Twins, winning 16 to one.

Ricky Nolasco struck out ten in the Marlins five to nothing shutout of the Padres.

The Red Sox lost to the Texas Rangers, again. This time three to one. They have now lost five in a row. As listed below, they did make a couple of trades to try and bolster their bench.

The Yankees beat the Orioles six to four in the Bronx yesterday. It was New York's sixth win in a row, moving them a full two games up on Boston. Bill Madden of the NY Daily News discussed the mood of the Yankees clubhouse. Also, my alma mater's head football coach stopped by to talk Rutgers football and their game in 2011 with Army at the Stadium. Go RU!

Oh... and a report I heard on 660 AM WFAN in New York this morning has Gary Sheffield to the DL and Alex Cora day to day. Sorry Mets fans... maybe you can challenge Tony Bernazard to a fight?
