The Most Boring Day in Sports

Well we made it through the most boring day in pro sports in America. We get back into the swing of thinks tonight with eight games kicking off the second half of the season.

Yesterday was not without its baseball news. The Phillies introduced Pedro Martinez and promptly placed him on the 15-day DL. Pedro says he "brings with him his legacy,". For the Phillies sake, I hope he brings a little bit more than that. Martinez was a great pitcher, but really fell off the map his last two seasons with the Mets. His numbers with Montreal and Boston are astounding and almost unbelievable. He is credited with being one of the best pitchers during an obvious offensive era in baseball. I think the Phillies made a low risk, high reward move here, but I don't expect Pedro to bring them too much.

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.COM previews the second half stories...

Manny Acta was fired a couple of days back. It just doesn't seem right to me to fire someone for not winning enough, when you give him nothing to win with. The Nats introduced Jim Riggleman as the interim manager. He talked about a "winning culture" in DC. That's a joke right? Washington has a chance to build with some youth. If they can sign Stephen Strasburg and get the number one pick again this year... they could be in line to compete... one day.

This has to be the worst week for fantasy baseball as well. A ton of leagues only use the four days to calculate their games and that could have a profound effect on the overall standings. If you have a chance to modify your lineup still try to get as many starters in as possible. Do NOT rely on closers in such a short week, they may not get enough opportunities.

I've been asked to talk about who is a better pitcher: Roy Halladay or Dan Haren? I've compiled some intereting stats thus far and hope to have an analysis up later today. Check back often!
