Jim Rice has some interesting view points on today's players. Surprisingly, Mr. Rice talks about two Yankees (Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez) and persona non grata in Beantown (Manny Ramirez) when discussing how today's players are all about individual achievements.
The Yankees and Red Sox combined for 31 runs in the Bombers 20 to 11 win in Boston last night. New York's lead in the American League East is now 7.5 games. Hideki Matsui hit two home runs and drove in seven.
The Florida Marlins picked up a rain soaked 5 to 3 win over the Atlanta Braves. Anabil Sanchez came off the 60 day DL to no hit the Braves through five and a third. He struck out seven to keep the Braves at bay. The win, coupled with the Phillies 4 to 2 loss to the Mets, moved the Marlins back within 5.5 games of the National League East leaders.
The San Francisco Giants picked up a big win in their wrap around series with the Colorado Rockies. Jonathan Sanchez got his team off on the right foot, pitching San Fran to a 6 to 3 win and a pulling them within a game of the Wild Card leading Rockies.
