New York wins. Again. In extra innings. Again. This time around Robbie Cano played the part of hero, hitting a RBI single in the bottom of the eleventh inning to give the Yanks a 4 to 3 win over the Blue Jays. Luckily for Robbie, AJ Burnett was a lot more on target with this shaving cream pie than he was any of his three wild pitches on the day.

The Red Sox kept pace, staying 5.5 games back of New York, beating the Tigers 8 to 2 for their third straight win against Detroit. Kevin Youkilis started serving his five game suspension. Rick Porcello is appealing.

Pedro Martinez returned to a major league mound and picked up a win in his Phillies debut. Martinez went five innings, giving up three runs while striking out five. Philadelphia beat the Cubs 12 to 5 to get Pedro his first win of the season. He wasn't great, but he was effective.

The Angels scored eight runs in the sixth and seventh innings to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 10 to 5 in California. Gary Matthews and Howie Kendrick both hit three run homers to help the Halos to the win. Do the Rays have enough left to make a run at the Wild Card? According to CBSSports.com columnist Scott Miller, their chances start and end with BJ Upton.
